Retrieving and activating e-sim

When transferring my phone from one carrier to another (Murena),

I received an email that said

“Your Unlimited Talk & Text + 4GB plan is all set — let’s get you connected.
Your Unlimited Talk & Text + 4GB plan is ready to go.
We’ve successfully transferred your phone number XXXXXXXXX. You can now set up your new eSIM right away and cancel your previous carrier plan.”

When I follow the instructions and go to “settings/network and internet” on the phone, under SIMS, there is no “add a network,” there is only the name of the old network, in this case, T-Mobile. Do I need to explicitly cancel the other plan? Or do I need to just wait a while? Or something else?

??

This is a Murena Teracube phone.

This is pretty bafling.

Is that intended as “Choose network”?

This is greyed out if Automatic network is toggled on.

I would expect you should update them, especially if it is the case that you already gave up the number. You may need to cancel to stop ongoing fees, but you might choose to delay the cancel till the changeover is a success.

Dear AIBD:

Thanks for your helpful comments. Answers and/or further comments to your questions and comments:

No. “Add a network” is the phrase used by the instructions, and it is said by the instructions to be listed under SIMs.

I tried toggling this. It made no difference.

re: canceling the other plan: after I wrote the query to the community, I tried to log in to my other plan but my account was already canceled. So that is not the issue. I also removed the other carrier’s SIM just to make sure, but that also did not resolve the issue; it only made the other carrier’s SIM disappear from the Network/ & InternetSIMs menu.

I sent a query to Support also, but their first response only got me to the same point as previously, so I have sent another and am awaiting a response.

At this point, I am realizing that I would prefer a physical SIM, which is what i had with the carrier I just left. When it comes to an e-sim, the last mile…perhaps I should say “the last micron” … seems to be a risky journey.

If and when I get a solution from Support I will post the relevant part for the community forum record.

Thanks again to AIBD.
