Root Pixel 7 with /e/OS -> Goal: Backup and restore my phone

Yesterday I became the owner of a Pixel 7 phone (panther) and immediately installed /e/OS (2.8 official).
Since I want to back up my apps, I need root.
Can anyone help me figure out the best way to root my Pixel?

Or does anyone know if there is already a howto available?

Thank you

Do you know about SeedVault? Not perfect but also no need to Root

I have looked at SeedVault (GitHub - seedvault-app/seedvault: A backup application for the Android Open Source Project.) - but it looks like this must already be integrated into android.

This is not the case with /e/OS - or am I wrong?

So far I have been using NeoBackup (GitHub - NeoApplications/Neo-Backup: backup manager for android). This tool is fantastic and does everything I want - but I need root on my smartphone.

Does anyone else have a solution to this problem?

Many thanks in advance.

Check Settings > System > Backup.

I’ve backuped my old phone (also /e/OS 2.8) to nextcloud.
But I can’t find a way to restore the backup to my new phone.

Is there an HowTo to do that?

Thank you all for your answers.

PS: If anybody is able to help me to get root on my Pixel 7 with /e/OS 2.8 it would be great.

Restore from NextCloud does not work with SeedVault in e/OS/ as far as I know.

I think getting root, is fairly easily discribed on the Internet with the common tools. Magisk or what it is called. I tried it once a long time ago.

Hi,
I found a way to root my Pixel 7 with /e/OS.
The trick is to use PixelFlasher.
I could root my Pixel7 and use NeoBackup.
Now everything is working - and I like this backup solution way better than SeedVault because many Apps just work out of the box on the new Phone after restoring them.
Thank you all for commenting on my problem.
