(upload://7NaLrFwmqQ0TEbK5k7n9eG0SfIs.jpeg)
tutoriel for this phone and downloaded required files but there is a VBmeta.img missing so l am stuck
Prompt command is not finding it and neither am l

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

have a read :
Search results for 'vbmeta a52q' - /e/OS community

from what i remember you can :

  • have a try skipping the vbmeta.img step
  • have a try using the fiile from LineageOS wiki
  • have a try extrating the file from the .ZIP to use it

if the file is in the main /e/ .ZIP, it will be flashed by the custom recovery
during adb sideload or local install from SDcard
as i remenber its missing don’t prevent to boot the device in recovery mode
as it was in the past to boot in TWRP on some device

Great
I can see you have been there already

But my phone is not exaxtly the same
Should it work anyway ?

I suppose l have to move the Vbmeta file into the e/os build folder then ?

about vbmeta.img missing from the /e/ website,
there are 2 possibilites :

  1. you don’t need it
  2. flash it before or aside the custom recovery

using by order of preference

  1. Heimdall 2.1.0 Linux (--no-reboot),
  2. Odin3 Windows (put it in any slot you want + custom recovery in AP, disable auto-reboot),
  3. Odin4 Linux (put it in any slot you want + custom recovery in AP +prepear your fingers),
  4. Galaxy Flasher Linux (put it in any slot you want + custom recovery in AP +prepear your fingers),
  5. Eros Android using OTG port

Odin3 does not reconize the device alas…

could be a driver issue or cable issue…

well l followed protocols to install necessary drivers…
gonna try again…
And will try another cable

in normal or recovery mode :

adb devices

in download mode :

heimdall connect

.

On Windows →
device manager + windows update with optional drivers selected

Im on windows 10 for now…

C:\Users\danac>heimdall connect
ā€˜heimdall’ is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

forget about heimdall 1.4.2 for this device,
you need 2.1.0 that is not yet available on windows but Linux only.

to see if the device in download mode is reconised by Windows,
→ windows device manager
to make the device reconised by Windows,
→ windows update with optionall driver selected

please take the time to read all the entire linked threads to make your opinion,
i won’t do that for you today…

I think l have downloaded the right file but Odin does not see it my downloads

It can see my phone now so thas already that…

How do l transform the files so odin can see them ?

for Odin, files must be in the .IMG format, but in the .TAR format (.img.tar and .tar.md5 also works)

use the famous freeware : ā€œ7zipā€ to convert it

or as stated in the instructions : Install /e/OS on a Samsung Galaxy A52 4G - ā€œa52qā€

Open a Command Prompt in the folder where the file was downloaded and TAR the file by running tar --format=ustar -cvf vbmeta.tar vbmeta.img

.

or use Heimdall to flash the .IMG files…

I did use the tar command but it would not work as this is the tutorial lm trying to follow but its ok l used 7zip to convert files

Now its Odin that crashes anytime l try either the lienage vbmeta tar file or the recovery tar file…

on my phone l have this…

on your screen we see

OEM LOCK : ON

you forgot to unlock the bootloader…

please read and follow more carefully
https://doc.e.foundation/devices/a52q/install

    • From within the Developer options menu, enable OEM unlock.
  • Download the /e/OS build zip file from the section marked ā€˜Downloads for a52q’. Extract the contents of the /e/OS build zip file. You will find a vbmeta.img in the extracted files.
  • Open a Command Prompt in the folder where the file was downloaded and TAR the file by running tar --format=ustar -cvf vbmeta.tar vbmeta.img
  • Power off the device, and boot it into download mode:
  • hold Volume Down + Volume Up and connect the USB cable to PC.
  • Now, click the button that the onscreen instructions correlate to ā€œDevice unlock modeā€ and/or ā€œUnlock Bootloaderā€.
  • Device will restart

Oh thas just weird…
And as it did not restart l could not re-unlock OEM…

Will try again…

It has been like that…
And l ge the same…

did you really confirm unlock using the buttons in a menu on the phone screen when device in download mode ?

ok…
i expect to see OEM LOCK OFF, and i understand (U) as unlockable
but i may be wrong…

.

you must launch it as admin (right click)

Oh l get it l missed a long up hold button its now unlocked it says
it restarts l must set up again and continue with tuto
Its just written so small…

And yes I run as administrator always

It does the same
I follow and try install the e/recovery tar file
Odin stops
No sign of download on the phone

I tried with the Vbmeta tar file instead and its the same…

But twrp did the trick !

After l restarted l get this…
