Today I’ve flashed a Samsung S10 SM-G973F/DS.
When first accessing the download mode, I had to do a long press on volume up to enter “unlock mode” that erased all data.
Another issue: after flashing the recovery, it displayed this error message:
only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed (RECOVERY)
I could workaround that by starting Android once (connected to Internet with WiFi). After that, flashing the recovery did not trigger the error message.
BUT I needed to flash VBMETA at the same time as the recovery. I took the vbmeta.img file from inside the recovery-e-2.8-a14-20250220470208-community-beyond1lte.img file, and flashed with:
heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery-e-2.8-a14-20250220470208-community-beyond1lte.img --VBMETA vbmeta.img --no-reboot
It allowed me to access the recovery.
It asked to do a factory data reset: I accepted, but it restarted automatically the device, and it did not change anything, and gave me the same error message, saying I needed a factory data reset.
However, there was an arrow on top left, that allowed to go back in the menu of the Recovery. There, I did the Format data / Factory reset
of the documentation, then “apply update” to flash the ROM with it.
And it finally worked!
