Scoped storage on Android 11

Hi,

I am trying to understand how will this affect my app usage when i buy degoogled phone with Android 11, right now i am with Android 10. If i want to share a photo/file in Signal, do i need to give Signal storage permission? Right now in Android 10 i have to, will scoped storage in Anrdoid 11 allow me to share a photo without giving storage permission to the app?

Yes. In order to access photos an app needs access to storage.

But does storage permission give access to anything more other tha photos/media? Does storage permission give access to other app storage or system storage of some kind?

I can say that on my phone Signal is not allowed to manage all files but is allowed access to media only
