Screen casting such as chromecast

Hi,

Just wanted to ask if someone could confirm that there is currently no way to cast from e/os to a screen for apps such as Netflix and Disney+, which all work with chromecast but Chromecast doesn’t seem to work on the fairphone 6 murena?

Screencasting to TV worked on my FP4 with e- os based on android 13 and stopped working with the update to android 14.

Hopefully a15 will turn the tide again.

since older phones, i used to use a computer running “scrcpy” (USB or WiFi mirroiring) and its video output to my TV

Oh interesting. How did you use to cast from your FP? Using Chromecast? Or something else?

No, i choose wireless display on my TV and screencasting on my fp4 with option wireless activated.

because no one dropped it yet - Wifi Display is synonymous to “Miracast”, something Lineage ships in most or all devices and TVs have it for a decade+ now, but the experience can be mixed (I guess due to the extent the wfd standard is implemented in sender and receiver).

It’s not as efficient as Chromecast where the sender just “casts” the url, it will relay all the streaming bytes:
