Screen remains black on incoming call

Hi

I bought FP3+ from the /e/ eshop. Before I started using FP3+ I upgraded to 0.13-2020121490323. So I don’t know if this problem also occurs in the delivered version.

On all incoming calls the screen remains black if the Phone is suspended for a while. There is no way to answer the call.

When I click the power button briefly, the display turns on and I see the desktop. But no display of the call and it just rings in the background. I’ m getting the same behavior after fresh reboot and locked screen in a short time.

Is this issue known? How can I fix this?

Many thank
Torsten

You may want to take a look at https://forum.fairphone.com/t/cant-answer-the-phone/54081 or https://forum.fairphone.com/t/calls-cut-out-when-i-try-to-answer/67435. Seems relevant.

Thanks for your respond. Unfortunately, none of the suggestions helped :frowning:

After some experiments I recognized a weird behavior. If I switched on the screen by pressing the power button while it rangs and only seeing the desktop, when the caller hangs up shortly the dialog appears. But then its too late.

When the call is made if the screen is active or I locked the screen shortly before, then all seems to be fine.

I found out a workaround now by another strange behavior.

If I quickly try to start another call during the incoming call, the dialog for accepting the call appears.

That is really weird… I guess my app Raise To Answer (Open Source, available in /e/ Apps, Google Play and F-Droid) would also be a workaround but… I have no clue what would be a proper fix :frowning:

Yes “Raise to Answer” is a much better workaround. Many thanks for your tip and effort.

Now I have only two little issues. On incoming call I don’ t see who’s calling me and sometimes the phone answers in my pocket

You could also use the volume buttons. Activate “Settings->System->Buttons->Answer Call”.

Many thanks. That works, too.
And after pushing the volumen button to answer the dialog pops up.
So I have still one issue. I can’ t see who is calling me before I answer.

I also have the same problem with a GS290 and /e/OS 0.13-2020121590520. Thank you @ljahn for the volume buttons hint, this is a usable workaround.

@flyhigh72tb do have raised a bug report on Gitlab? I had a quick search but couldn’t find one.

No, how can I do that?

I’m not sure, but i guess https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/backlog/-/issues is the right place. I don’t have a account on this Gitlab instance, so i can’t raise a bug myself.
