I should probably shed some light on the background. I never chose to use this app, I never would have. But my VR Bank(s) (and their related data center (which is the same for almost all cooperative banks) shut down the TAN-via-SMS service. So I had no choice. The security problem with this app and all alternatives connected to your pc is that all data is transferred over the same pathway, your internet connection. The only former choice for far better security was TAN-via-SMS (the service had some striking name I cannot remember). Since the app uses Google services which are under US legal authority it is clear that they do not comply to german or EU privacy legislation. But nobody cares, just with your local wndoze or m*cos or iphone or the like. I once thought most people use e/os for the privacy features and the EU legislation, but I get the impression my thinking was wrong here. Just like another thread of mine shows regarding security/privacy of contacts on the phoneâŠ
Not to forget that: the sms service was obviously terminated for cost reasons, so the banks costs are higher rated than the security of your accountâŠ
Show me the corresponding thread please. I am interested because I use the app every day on latest e/os on FP5. So it will be hard to convince me that it does not work âŠ
BTW if you need it working again you can downgrade the app to 3.7.2 372004. this version works. the only remedy is you need to set up all your banking again, as a direct downgrade is not possible. therefore i had to delete the app and reinstall the lower version. not sure if a backup of the app would help here.
Hello,
thanks for the downgrade hint, I found the old version at apk-mirror,
now its works again. Device is
Motorola g7 power (ocean) with /e/OS 3.2-beta, not rooted, bootloader unlocked (of course!)
Thank you albigdd for the summary table. It seems to be a issue mostly on Pixel devices. I can confirm this.
On my very old Xiaomi MiA2 running e/OS/ 2.2-r-dev SecureGo+ works (with Magisk root and Shamiko deny list). But on a Pixel 4a5G it doesnât work. Not with e/OS 3.04-t-community without root. Not after update to stock e/OS 3.14-a14-community (no root). And also not after installing Magisk root and deny list. Thereâs no difference between SecureGo+ version 4.2.1 and 4.2.1.
But old app version 3.7.2 (372004) is working (downloaded with Aurora Store, on Magisk deny list).
Many thanks to Chimpthepimp for the hint using version 372004.
