Security patch question

Hallo, i want to install /e/os but the /e/os’s security patch Is older than the official One, so i Will brick my phone if i try.
So? The only thing tò do Is waiting for an update?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

Please state more details what device you have what version is installed now and what month of patch . Fairphone is clear so far.

What I also understood is, you want to install ‘official’ build and therefore you want to lock the bootloader again.

You’re right, Sorry. I own a fairphone 4 android 13 security patch 5 March 2025. The build tò install, i Guess official and about locking again bootloader, i don’t know yet.

Fairphone 4 has no Android 14 yet with FairphoneOS?:thinking:

Hmm, if you install manually then you can install official a14 2.9 with march 2025 patch and locking is not a problem.

If you install with the e/OS/installer then it might install a14 with either 2.8 or 2.9, not sure how quick they update it. You will see during the process which recovery version is flashed. If 2.8 with the last step don’t lock bootloader. Boot into the OS and with the updater you install 2.9 and then you have to manually lock the bootloader. Think about doing everything manually since, one part needs to be done manually.

If you choose ‘community’ then only manually is possible and nothing scary can happen.

So, It should be ok because I’m installing a newer android versionto (14/e/os) , right? I Will then choose community version and manual install

Thanks for the help

Can be an issue but I wouldn’t know what in this moment.

Good luck.
