Security patches from Google?

Hi
I am not very familiar with how security patches work and “come into existence”. But I was a bit confused when I read und Settings->Security&Location->Trust->Android-Securitypatches: “Securitypatches are provided by Google monthly…” (translated from German the original English verion might be somewhat different). I thought /e/OS was about getting away from Google. If the security patches are from Google does that not enable Google to install whatever shady stuff they want to?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/ the unGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

Security patches will always originate from Google. As will vendor patches come from the vendor. /e/ is all about about removing the google calls from the code. Just to set things in perspective the source code of /e/ OS or Lineage OS comes from AOSP which is from Google !!
If there is any ‘calling home’ code in the code we will remove that in the /e/OS.
