Sending files to a smartphone by bluetooth?

hello,

i have a fairphone 4 with /e/OS 3.2-a1420251022539005-official-FP4.

I connected it by bluetooth with my linux PC. Basically, it works. From the PC’s view, the fairphone is paired, trusted and connected.

I can send files from the fairphone to the PC.

But the opposite direction does not work. If I try sending a file (using “blueman-manager”) to the fairphone, I get an error message.

What’s missing there? Any suggestions, how to transfer files from PC to phone by bluetooth?

are you insisting on bluetooth out of curiosity? because there really are easier solutions just on wifi: localsend

FP4 Bluetooth vs Linux works for me in both directions.

Id consider testing from another pc as this could well be a problem on the pc side.

hello,

on my PC (linux) I had to enable accepting files which are sent by bluetooth explicitely. This is probably for security reasons.

Maybe on the fairphone it is also needed. But I found no possibility for it. It does ask neither, if it should save a file.

I tried it from a windows (win11) computer, but there it’s the same: No transfer to the phone. (or even worse, also no transfer to the PC. Or I missed a button…).

I tried localsend, which was unknown to me until you mentioned it. It works  Thank you for the tip.

But I am afraid that I am bound to to a accessible WiFi for using it. So I have to activate the hotspot when I am not at home. That’s not really a problem, but I would prefer bluetooth. Therefore I am still open for hints regarding bluetooth.

Maybe a hint, start bluetooth communication on the pc.

Activate the transfer on the pc in both directions via the bloetooth app then send the file from the phone or accept the file on the phone.
