Hello,
I want to ask, how it will most likely go on with my contacts.
I always synchronized them with murena cloud. And they were lost because of the service outage I think. Don’t have a local backup…
Somehow they are still there, thanks to messengers?
I can go to contacts, find a name and then make a telegram call to his cell-phone-number.
But I cant use his number to make a normal phone call.
(With copy/pasting the number it works, but that is a pain…)
I’ve got a few new contacts now in my murena-cloud.
Will you overwrite those, when you rescued my big contacts-file?
Is there any other way, to rescue my contacts maybe throug a messenger?
Have got Skype, Telegram, Threema.
Can you recall visibly confirming in the web frontend that all contacts were in fact synchronized to murena.io ?
(to clarify for the murena / nextcloud side: there is no big-contacts-file, contacts / vcf data in nextcloud is stored in the database (oc_cards). A restore of their storage is independent of the database. Up until now I haven’t seen user reports of any gap in database records)
Contacts app > top left 3 bar menu > Settings > Export > Export as .vcf.
It would seem wise to have this on SD card if present and on your PC.
The thing about Telegram etc and your observation of “mixed” contacts. This can look odd depending if you give permission to read Contacts and / or write Contacts to each of these third party apps.
Perhaps check the permissions at this time bearing in mind maybe they were different once before.
Both can be adjusted. You could cycle through the permutations to see if some contacts are in unexpected locations.
I happen to have all my contacts on my main account, none on my webmail account (I want webmail to use main) and none on device (which I understand to mean SIM card).
hello, when you say that all your contacts are on the main account does it mean that they are on : “Contacts (yourname@murena.io VQ) and not on " Contacts yourname@murena.io Sw”, and certainly not on your device ?
Hello tcecyk,
this database, where contacts are stored, you say it was’nt affected?
I’m just pretty sure, I chose this synchronisation.
My small standard account should do perfectly for that I thought…
And I can’t think of another reason, that contacts suddenly disappear. All other data is there.
It seems I even got the names left, and all Phone-Numbers are gone (just checked the vcf-file that I made some days ago).
not affected in terms of “loss”, as there weren’t other reports of data missing. Since the database was available again contacts should be as before. If you’re a paying murena user you sure can ask for confirmation from their helpdesk.
Do or did you have other accounts connected: a Google account or second murena account? did you dissociate any accounts intermittingly?
(as aibd already said, contacts are “mixed” - Android has composite contacts)
Do these contacts contain email addresses ? This would seem to indicate that they would be contacts added by an email program. I have one such “no number” contact. The fact that this was from an email client is confirmed where I find a line containing
PRODID:SnappyMail-2.28.1
You might try another export this time from your Murena account
Open Contacts > Contacts settings > Address books > Contacts > 3 dot menu end of the line > Download. This will allow the download of a .vcf.
One might compare how this differs from the .vcf exported by the phone.
