It seems an update (.12 if I am not mistaken) removed the battery percentage from the top bar. Personally, I find this quite inconvenient. Is there a way to recover it from the setting?

You can set this is the options. I have percents as I always had.
Settings → System → Status bar → Battery indicator
Her you can set the ‘Battery status style’ and the location of the ‘Battery percentage’
