I understand that Signal is the default app for sms/mms on /e/. Why does it want to verify my phone number the way Whatsapp would do it? I’m not used to sms apps requesting this. Is there a way to skip the request?
Currently /e/ needs a sms/mms application that doesn’t need such an inscription… by the way data are stored in the states…
Personally i’ve installed silence from f-droid, waiting a fixed and long term solution.

You are right @cedricoola Signal does request the phone number to complete the registration. You cannot skip the registration as it is required to make Signal work. We are identifying such issues with default apps and looking at viable alternates. Future releases of /e/ rom will have default apps as removable giving the user more flexibility and control.
