Upon sending the message below to helpdesk@murena.com I was advised that it is not monitored and it was suggested that I bring my issues here. So here is the email I originally sent to the helpdesk:
Dear Murenafolk:
My wife and I received our de-Googled Pixel Tablets from Murena within the last week or so. We are very happy with them, so far. But we are also a bit puzzled.
The tablets arrived with leaflets announcing that a “free Murena Mobile SIM” was in our devices. This seemed fortuitous, since there is otherwise no apparent way a SIM could have gotten into a Pixel Tablet; as far as we know these tablets aren’t SIM-capable. The message in the leaflet was reinforced by email entitled, as I recall, “Do You Want a SIM With That?”.
A SIM would be nice, especially paired with a data-only plan such as those available (in the U.S., at least) from, e.g., tello.com. However, I fear activating the free Murena Mobile SIM in our devices using normal methods would not have the results we desire – this is clearly an occult SIM, requiring more supernatural-tending methods of activation.
So I have acquired a USI-compliant stylus and augmented it to serve as a wand. My wife and I have stood naked over our tablets, holding hands, with the makeshift wand in my teeth, uttering the spell Activatus SIMulus! repeatedly (and, in my case, with some difficulty since I had a wand in my dentures). Since we are both in our seventies I will spare you the photographic evidence of this ritual.
In any event the results are, so far, disappointing. No SIMs have been activated by this means. There must be some arcane bit of lore which we are missing.
