SIM locked Sony XZ1C cannot start flash mode

I flashed quite a lot of Xperia devices so far and with the help of this forum (and XDA) I managed most of the issues so far. Thanks for that!
Now thats my actual problem:
I flashed /e/ on a XZ1 Compact (lilac) but only then I found out that the device has a simlock! The seller didnt told me that!
Now I want to roll back to stock ROM because I cannot enter an activation code if I get one from the carrier (which shouldnt be a problem) because the field to enter it isnt shown.
So I guess this would work on stock ROM but the problem is I cannot activate flashmode! It might not be related to the simock, but as I never had that issue it might as well beā€¦
Any ideas aside from the usual one on startup?
Is there a way to enter flashmode via adb maybe? So far I diondt found one on the webā€¦

Can you boot into recovery? If so, the ā€˜Advancedā€™ menu might give an option to reboot to bootloader. I think Flashtool will then detect the device and allow you to boot into flashmode.

As I recall, the way to boot into flashmode is to lug in the usb cable while holding Volume down (or maybe Volume up. Did you try that?

Thanks Pete!
As usual, after spending hours to solve the problem myself and finally posting here I found the real problem shortly after posting: the volume buttons are not working! So I am not able to start flashmode which is needed for Flashtool unfortunately.
Bootloader works fine because I can start it from adb but I didnt find a command to run flasmode via adb. Does anyone know one?

So it probably has nothing to do with the device being simlockedā€¦
I learned 2 new things though:

  1. ask the seller of a used device if it is simlocked specifically (as it wsnt meintiond in the descriptionā€¦)
  2. test the volume buttons before you flash the device

If anybody knows a command to run flashmode via adb it would be highly appreciatedā€¦
