Since installing /e/os on FP4 windows 11 does not recognise my FP4

Hi,
After (eventually) getting /e/os installed on my Fairphone 4 (FP4), the bootloader did not re-lock. However, since the installation, when plugging my FP4 into my Windows 11 laptop, the FP$ is not recognised as a device. An ‘android device’ can be seen in Device Manager, but the device does not show up in the File system (in File Explorer).

I was hoping to try re-locking the bootloader, but at present cannot connect to my laptop.

Any ideas?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

Slide down from the top bar to the middle. You will see "USB options " By default it’s set to “Charge only”. Select: “File transfers”.

To make the change permanently, you may set this option in the “developer mode”.

You don’t say but only if you installed by eosinstaller

… in addition to the above the locking would be done as Install /e/OS on a Fairphone FP4 - “FP4” with the prerequisite from

Requirements

Check that adb and fastboot are enabled on your PC. If not you can find the setup instructions here

Hi,
Yes, thank you… but I already tried that with no luck…

Hmmm… I don’t completely follow this… The link was to Linux options, but (at the moment) I have a Windows 11 only laptop…

Many thanks for the response :+1:

The link includes the explanations plus

is Installing adb and fastboot on Windows PC

Thank you!
This looks like it needs some time… so I will leave it to the weekend.

Thanks again for your response…

Kind regards.

Hi,
By way of an update, last weekend I tried using the processes detailed in an attempt to relock.the bootloader on my (now /e/os) fairphone 4.
I looked like all had gone well, but at the very end, upon rebooting the bootloader was still unlocked - and of course the phone was factory reset. I also found that the seedvault app backup was useless at this point. So have spent time during the week reloading and resetting up all of my apps from scratch.
I have discovered in the process, that a 6GB signal backup file is too large to restore (and save to) a usb c flash drive (even though there is more than enough space)…

Hey ho…
