SMS not sending on Galaxy S10

Hello,
Installed e/os yesterday on my daily driver S10 SM-G973F

I’d done a test run a few months earlier on an S9 that had gone smoothly.

Most things work great, but I’m unable to send SMS messages. I tried manually configuring APN (the settings only seem applicable to MMS) but that didn’t help.

I can receive SMS fine and everything else seems to be working including mobile data.

My network is iD Mobile UK (3 carrier).

e/os version 3.04

Any help would be appreciated as I’m extremely reluctant to go back to stock ROM at this point but that will be my only option if I can’t get SMS working.

Many thanks, Tom

Hi @tcd welcome to the /e/ forum.

Maybe the answer I gave here will give insight ? Samsung Galaxy S9 on 3.0.4 won't connect to iD Mobile - #2 by aibd

hello, thanks the reply. Yes, I had found that post but it didn’t really give me any insight. As I said, I’d checked the APN settings against what was available online.

I didn’t try to contact my carrier as I frankly don’t expect they would help, it’s a low-cost online focused virtual operator, I expect it would be a challenge even to get through to someone who could understand the problem, let alone attempt to help fix it.

Regrettably, I had to revert back to stock ROM which I really didn’t want to do. I was shocked to discover that the process had triggered the KNOX counter which is permanent. I think this should be made MUCH MUCH more clear on the instructions. I know there are various caveats to installing a custom ROM and I was prepared to take the risk, but this isn’t a risk, it’s a certainty, and as such it should be very conspicuous.

I haven’t given up on e/os/ yet, but it doesn’t seem to play nicely with an S10. This was really disappointing for me as I wanted it to work very much and I spent countless hours researching, reading this forum and even flashing an older phone before committing to it.

*edit
I should add… regarding the SMS… annoyingly, it would work just fine occasionally, leading me to think the problem was resolved, only to revert back to not sending later.

I had the same issue with my S10+. I don’t know what I did, but after some reboots and flight modes it suddenly started to work again.
