SMS problems - "com.mediatek.ims.ImsApp"

Hi,
This is my first post after activating my account.
Last year I purchased two new Gigaset GS290 and switched the original OS to /e/OS immediately.
One was for my girlfriend and one for me
Well, we were very happy with /e/OS - till now:
As far as I can say, since around 2 month we both have the same error while sending SMS.
Over and over again some of the SMS do not leave and are marked as “will be sent” (“wird gesendet”, in German).
Then an error message pops up saying that “com.mediatek.ims.ImsApp” is stopped again or the like.
Sometimes it is also not possible to turn the “mobile data” swith on and off.
In addition, sometimes the order of the SMS is mixed up at the recipient’s end, e.g. the last SMS sent is displayed first and so on - chaotic.
We have tried various tricks to get around this, e.g. turning the “mobile data” on before sending SMS and so on, but nothing really helps.
There is also no regularity to when this error occurs.
Both devices are updated to the last version of /e/OS (2.4).

Is there anyone out there who has the same error?
And hopefully there is someone who has fixed the error and can tell us how to proceed?
I would be grateful for any advice on this matter.

Following the same story in German:

Hi,

Also did you search for Gigaset GS290 in this forum ? sometime one can find answers.

I think this is really an issue from your carrier … but unusual … as you used their service without problem for a while (I assume ?).

The install page mentions:

Warning: Make sure that you can send and receive SMS and place and receive calls (also via WiFi and LTE, if available), otherwise it will not work on /e/OS as well. Additionally, some devices require that VoLTE/VoWiFi be utilized once on stock to provision IMS.

But you have used your two Gigaset GS290 for a few months without IMS issues (??).

Before contacting your carrier … you might search

Settings > Apps and notifications > See all … apps > 3 dot menu top right > Show system > …

now use the Search facility …

Do you find an app … showing under any combination of mediatek and / or ims ?

It is often a fix for an issue like this to navigate to such app and … navigate to …

Hello Didou,
Thanks for your comment - I have now published a copy of my post in the German forum as well
Apart from that: Yes, I have already searched for possible useful contributions, but unfortunately found nothing helpful :frowning:

Hello aibd,
Thank you very much for your assistance.
Yes, we both have used our devices certainly a year without any issues relating to IMS.
That was also one of my first thoughts, that the provider itself could be the problem.
Well, my girlfriend and I use completely different providers, but we still have the same problem.
I have already gone the route you described to clear both the cache and the memory for the app in question, but unfortunately with no positive effect :frowning:

Ok, it looks like I was able to fix the problem:

There is setting named “4G-calls” that was activ.
After disabling this setting everything seems to work normal.

For those who have the same problem (based on V2.4 oft /e/OS/):
You can find the setting by swiping the display beginning at the top edge to see the active connections.
By holding your finger on the button “mobile data” you will reach a screen showing the amount of already used datas and the like.
Scrolling down you will find the setting “4G-calls” which has to be disabled.
After this I’ve restarted the system - not sure if this is really necessary, but after doing so everythings works well till now.
