This would lead to an MMS. - MMS is dead. There are providers which do not support MMS anymore. So even if you can send one it’s not safe that the receiver gets it. (BTW: this is never guaranteed in the SMS world.)
Yes, that would be a usefull feature to be able to send voice messages. All competitors support this feature.
