[SOLVED] Decryption unsuccessful after minor version upgrade

A friend has a samsung galaxy S9+ (star2lte) with /e/ on it. After attempting to update to 1.14, the infamous error “Decryption unsuccessful: The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt.” occurred. This is very likely related to a low-disk-space condition when updating, as some other users seem to have reported before (1, 2 ?)

So if anyone still has the e-1.12.3-q-20230614299635-stable-star2lte.zip that probably was the version he previously had installed so we can attempt a downgrade, that would be a really great help and much appreciated!

if nothing turns up you could try an older lineage 17.1 build from a build archive.

OK wow the craziest thing ever, I’m so shocked …
First, tried to flash various TWRP versions and mount the userdata, no success (no crypto support, invalid argument …)… Then tried your suggestion and flashed an old LineageOS 17.1 and that booted but showed the same “decryption unsuccessful” message… Actually I already had given up about getting back to the data - then flashed the most current e-3.1.4-s-20250915526531-official-star2lte.zip … and lo and behold - phone boots and everything seems to work fine, all data is there… wth :hushed: :tada:

so thanks for the reply and I think the issues is resolved, zip not needed. Documenting for people in same situation…
