[SOLVED] Gigaset GS290 + Windows 10 + Easy installer = Local file cannot be found (recovery-e-lastest-gs290.img)

The combination Gigaset GS 290 + Windows 10 + Easy installer results in the following error:

Downloading recovery-e-latest-GS290.img (17.4 MB)

"Local file cannot be found"

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks in advance for a solution.

Hi there and welcome to the forum!

The installer checks the downloaded files for corruption errors (that sometimes happens for large downloads).

In order to do that, this file gets downloaded: https://images.ecloud.global/stable/GS290/recovery-e-latest-GS290.img.sha256sum

Right now, this expects the file name to be “recovery-e-0.15-q-20210317106351-stable-GS290.img” instead of “recovery-e-latest-GS290.img”.

To proceed with the installation, you need to open %LOCALAPPDATA%\easy-installer\sources in the windows file manager.
There should be a file called “recovery-e-latest-GS290.img”. Rename it to “recovery-e-0.15-q-20210317106351-stable-GS290.img”.
Then, run the installer again.

@Manoj I think the creation of https://images.ecloud.global/stable/GS290/recovery-e-latest-GS290.img.sha256sum needs to be changed to use the fixed name instead of one containing the version number

Thanks for the welcome and the fast reply. Unfortunately the error remains the same after renaming the file…

Can you upload the log of the installer as described in Howto troubleshoot issues with the easy-installer

You can find the log here: (removed)

Ok, according to the log, this is the error

 recovery-e-0.15-q-20210317106351-stable-GS290.img do not exists

Looking at your screenshot I assume that your windows still has the default to hide known file extension (like .img in this case).

The name of the downloaded file is shown as “recovery-e-latest-GS290” and the type is “Schijfkopiebestand” (which I interpret as windows not showing the .img extension).
In contrast, the renamed file is now called “recovery-e-0.15-q-20210317106351-stable-GS290.img” (which means, without the hiding feature of windows the full name will be “recovery-e-0.15-q-20210317106351-stable-GS290.img.img”).

Try renaming the file to “recovery-e-0.15-q-20210317106351-stable-GS290”. It should still be marked as type “Schijfkopiebestand”

Yes, that did indeed do the trick!!! Thanks for the super service.

After being stuck in fastboot mode:

I finally succeeded in getting /e/ installed. Now I’m going to test the caldav and carddav functionality!
