[solved] SIM not working on Shift 8.1 (otter)

Hey guys,

I just got my handy on my Shift 8.1 today and installed /e/OS following the instructions given.

After successful installation first problem was that I wans’t able to relock the bootloader as it gave me a curruption message (I was able to unlock again an reflash, but didn’t locked it now)

Next and biggest problem at the moment is, that with /e/OS the phone doesn’t properly recognize my SIM, which worked fine with stock and also in my Shift 6mq.

The phone does however see the SIM, let me unlock it and also sees the provider (Drillisch / O2), but neither calls nor SMS or internet are available.

I already added the APN manually, but didn’t helped.
Also when trying to set the network manually it doesn’t finds any.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I would have created a issue in gitlab, but for whatever reason my email domain is blocked, so I hope someone can help me over here.

finally I found the solution:

The modem driver currently build into the release isn’t compatible with the 8.1 hardware version.

A solution is to extract the compatible modem driver from the current shiftOS build:
