Hello,
I’ve been installing a very recent version of /e/ ( e-0.1-201812152239-nightly-a5y17lte.zip) on my Samsung A5 2017 (a5y17lte) this morning on a wiped (data/internal/cache/etc.) device using TRWP-3.2.3.1 recovery.
All went smoothly, I have been pretty impressed !
After rebooting the device once, it started to play a very loud “pink noise” through the speakers each time a tiny notification sound would have been expected (UI navigation).
Am I missing something here ?

Rebooted the device didn’t help, but powering it off and then back did the trick.
In case someone encounters this awkward issue, then try this.

Two years later your solution worked for me too with a Samsung A5 2017 (same issue, all sound coming from speaker were very loud and i had to disable sound from many days).

I’ve the same issue on my A5 2017 on last version it worked just to switch it off and back. I just update new version and every sound coming out of the speaker is this horrible sound. Switch off trick doesn’t work anymore. 
New version /e/OS 0.13-2020120789008
Finaly all came back good but I can’t gess how
