Some anomalies after three weeks using /e/os

Hello,
I have flashed a Pixel 5 with /e/os on April, 9th, and I have noticed several anomalies; most of them seems to be bugs. I list them below, hopping Murena will correct these in future versions, as it seems not hardware-related.
But if I missed something to get it right, please let me know !

1/ First, the worse : sync to Murena account
Notes & Calendar sync work in both directions
Contacts works only cloud->phone
Others directories : most of the time, sync is not working, even when forcing it, or rebooting.
I don’t want to install another cloud client.
It seems several users have such problems, despite having the latest version of /e/os.
If Murena want to address even more people, having people subscribe to extended plans (and earns money from that), then Sync features should really work out of the box, without adding something, or changing/tuning folder names, etc…

2/ Camera :
I know OpenCamera is not from Murena, but it comes with the bundle, so I feel free to expose some problems here :

a. The following problem appears sometimes/most of the time :
After taking a shot, the thumbnail of the shot is present at the bottom right of the Camera app.
If I tap this thumbnail, I see the previous shot, not the one I just taken.
I have to wait for seconds before the shot matches the thumbnail.
I the app needs processing time (seems unusually long for a standard mode), the thumbnail should not be the one of the shot being processed.
EDIT : I just turned on Settings->More camera controls->Storage Access Framework, and it seems to have solved the problem.
EDIT EDIT : with Storage Access Framework ON, photos can not be deleted from the app galerie viewer. I wonder which one is worse…

b. On a Pixel 5, each time I switch between the two lenses, the preview image suddenly appears darker than it should be.
The shot itself has correct exposure.
To get back to the ‘normal’ brightness preview, I have to switch the mode (STD, NRO, HDR, …) or switch back and forth to front camera.

3/ Camera shortcut :
When phone is locked, I wish to open camera quickly, without having to unlock the phone.
I hoped it was possible with the option System->Gestures->Quickly open camera.
It says “It works from any screen”.
But not from lock screen, sadly.

4/ App lounge :
a. You have to be lucky to have suggestions when searching for an app.
Most of the time, no suggestions are displayed.

b. After taping the ‘magnifier’ to run the search, App lounge display results, but the top one is vertically half ‘cropped’, I have to slide the list to display it fully.

5/ Sharing of photos :
I take photos which include GPS/compass data.
Each time I want to send them, using Bluetooth or email, the location data are stripped out; actually, on the received file, GPS coordinates read all at ‘0’, and compass data are totally deleted.
This seems not expected, and is annoying.
I can not see a ‘privacy’ settings controlling that.
The only way yo preserve the location data is to transfer photos using USB.

Cheers,
PLA

I agree strongly with #1. Sync needs some work. (The Tasks app is my particular issue.)

#3: Agreed. I got used to how easy this is on an iPhone. It’s much clunkier to get to the camera on /e/OS.

I haven’t had any problem with #4. The App Lounge is always full of apps (on my Fairphone 4). Maybe there’s a Pixel 5-specific bug?

As for #5, I prefer, myself, to have GPS data stripped out of shared photos by default, as a privacy and safety feature. But, yes, it would be nice to have the option of keeping all the metadata intact on shared photos.

Thanks for your post. That’s an interesting perspective.
