Sony Xperia Z5 compact (suzuran)

Did you manage to flash the recovery image successfully?

If so, what did you do next? What instructions are you following to do the sideload?

With your phone in its curent state, you can “force stop it by”

  • Press and hold Volume (in the middle, not up or down) and Power.together
  • after a few seconds (5-15) the phone will vibrate once and the screen will go blank
  • continue to press and hold the power and volume switch
  • after a few more seconds the phone will vibrate three times
  • now you can release the buttons - the phone should have powered off completely

If you successfully flashed the recovery image, to restart the phone in recovery mode you press and hold Volume Down + Power for a few seconds, until the phone vibrates once.

Once the phone has booted into TWRP, follow the instructions at
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/suzuran/install#installing-lineageos-from-recovery

OK. You appear to be working in the correct directory, where you have downloaded the zip file. If so
you need to enter just the following
adb sideload e-1.8.1-r-20230206257804-dev-suzuran.zip

If you have started the Sideload function in TWRP on the phone, then you should see a progress indicator on your computer. This will stop at 47% and say there has been an error. In fact the sideload will still be in progress on the phone, where it will eventually succeed.

When I get a bit more time, I will send you a private message explaining why the commands you tried didn;t work

There is an error in the /e/ installation instructions for this device. The section Installing /e/OS from recovery states

reboot into recovery mode by typing the below command in the console of an adb enabled PC

adb reboot recovery

The adb reboot recovery command has not worked since Android Q.

The correct instruction to boot to recovery is

With the device powered off, hold Volume Down + Power.

I have raised an issue to get this corrected
https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/backlog/-/issues/6673

The LineageOS Installation instructions are correct
