Step counter for e/os

Does the Fairphone 6 with e/os have a step counter? I’m wondering if there is a way the phone can track my steps as I walk around with it in my pocket. I’m planning on getting a fitness watch soon to use with gadget bridge but I was just wondering if the phone as the function built in or if maybe there is a third party app I could use.

Pedometer from F-Droid

would test if the hardware is suitable.

I used it for a while but did not find the steps counted fully consistent, perhaps the phone needs to be carried in a certain way to get every step to count (??).
