Hi all. I am wondering if someone can help me resolve this problem. I have had my OnePlus7t for about 4 years now and it has never given me any issues. I have not recently installed any updates either. Three days ago, I was using my phone as usual and playing music when suddenly, out of no where it started glitching, showed me a grey square and then started making a beeping noise. I got scared so I turned the phone off. Since then, I have not been able to turn it back on. I have tried the power and volume buttons - the OnePlus logo will appear and then disappear again to leave me with a black screen. Then sometimes when I try to turn it back on, I will get stuck in ‘Recovery Mode’ and I am shown this message: “Kindly reminder : system error, after selecting language, please select Online update (keep data) to recovery system, thanks". I get 5 options in recovery mode: Wipe Data, Power Off, Reboot, Reboot to Fastboot Mode, Reboot to Recovery Mode. I have tried choosing Reboot but then it just takes me back to recovery mode. It is stuck in a loop. I am unable to access my phone and my data. I really do not want to choose the Wipe Data option as all of my contacts are saved onto my phone itself. I would like to be able to use my phone again whilst keeping all my data. Can anyone please help me?
Hi there, no this is not what I am seeing. I don’t have any option to apply update unfortunately. Please see attached photo for the message I am seeing. I have also added a photo to my original post
I guess your priority is to recover data?
Can you make any contact with the phone with adb
? You might then be able to pull
certain files or folders.
It is really unusual to see the “wrong recovery” in a phone in use for 4 years. Did something stop you from applying updates for a while ? Was it that a manual Android version upgrade seemed required ?
Ideally you would have a backup in place before doing this. To recover the phone I feel that you will really need to start at follow the install instructions, Install /e/OS on a OnePlus 7T - “hotdogb”, and flash a new recovery.
However the current builds shown /e/OS community hotdogb download are Android 14. (Androd 13 is also available). Can you make a guess of the Android version you were on before upgrades stopped.
