I have just discovered the existence of that software for NextCloud :
To share podcast/music/pipe playlists between devices isn’t complicated but having something automated on murenacloud would be nice !

Hosting the API itself in nextcloud isn’t much maintenance, on the level of News (rss) and Bookmarks. Would make sense to then also offer RePod as UI to podcasts via web. I’d go for it. It’s a useful companion to anyone using AntennaPod.
But I understand why there’s not much demand: podcast listeners mostly use already login-based clients (Apple Podcasts, Youtube, Spotify ..) - outside Antennapod or gpodder itself. There’s no popular iOS podcast app to have gpodder api support or strong desktop clients to drive cross platform demand.
App independent API protocols have their own dynamic to get momentum. Subsonic only made it because it has the selfhosting component. One usually doesn’t mirror / selfhost podcasts, just the rss list.
