Swap phones' /e/ accounts

Hi there,
I’d like to transfer my /e/ account from my current phone (Moto G7 plus) to my son’s phone (Samsung Galaxy S9) and to transfer my son’s /e/ account on my phone.
Both phone use the latest version of /e/Os available.
What is the ‘best’/easiest way to proceed in order not to loose data?
Thank’s in advance,

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the unGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

PS: I suppose that the recent “Service outage” deeply condition backup/restore strategy based on cloud. Right?

depends, did you use murena for files + notes much? or just (contacts, calendar, tasks, passwords, email)? notes is kind of inbetween being also file-based at the murena+nextcloud end.

If you setup your account on the new phone, you should get the data in parantheses - you can do this multiple times, it’s not exclusive to a device.

To get the file-based data though you’d have to import from a local copy and make sure to disable file sync and re-enabled carefully when murenas storage comes back online, as the internal state could have issues to reconcile.

Thank you for your answer.
I don’t use files and notes syncronization: there are just few files in the cloud from a previouse setting. Actually the only files I have on phone are pictures which I generarly backup manually.

Still, apart for files (pictures). I’d like to be assured about what I’ll get on setting my current account on a ‘new’ /e/Os phone. Does anybody knows?
I’m a little bit concerned because when I access to my web murena.io account I see almost nothing and a banner saying it a reduced functionality version an something MAY be not not working!

there’s not alot of magic to it - basically you’ll get the entries you currently see on the web account (contacts, calendar).

I see… just nothing! And actually that’s what I had in my new phone once I did the log in.
I just don’t know if that:

a) is a temporary problem (because of murena service problems not yet solved)
b) is a problem in my settings
c) is just as designed

I expected to have all the applications and accounts. As far as I see if one changes her phone has to re-set re-install everything!

yes, that expectation is misplaced, /e/ can’t do this - the scope as I read in the top post and understood was “/e/ account”, meaning “contacts, calendars, tasks, notes and files” - where the latter two are affected by the ongoing outage.

As for general accounts of any Apps and the Apps itself, there’s no cloud sync mechanism in /e/ that is able to do this. You got to do it manually

Oh, I see…
Isn’t that a ‘standard’ feature both for googled-Android and iOs phones?

it’s more DIY without the billion dollar company backing. But admittedly sure it’s a valid user request.

There is some software that can do migrations, but still needs manual intervention (local storage), Android 14 and a more current version, so I didn’t bring it up (Seedvault).

Definitively a useful feature.
Thank you!
