Switching from iPhone to e/OS

Hello, I successfully got e/OS running yesterday on a Pixel 7 I got off ebay specifically to de-big-tech my life. Having made the switch and got most apps downloaded last night and this morning, I’ve realised it would be very useful to have all my old message histories and also my whatsapp history. Does anyone have experience in this? Apparenly the ‘Android Switch’ software by google is good at this but I wasn’t sure if it would work for e/OS. Probably not I would assume. And also apparently for whatsapp chat history you need to have the android to be factory reset which would be really annoying to do only to find out it doesn’t work.

‘Androit Switch’ needs lots of permissions you cannot grant in a user install, but with adb root or magisk it could very likely work.

I think you already looked at the official ios migration docs for the basics (lot’s of manual steps).

If you want to “de-bigtech” also move away from WhatsApp, it awful. I know some people need it, but use it at a minimum and encourage you friends to switch to something like signal Private Messenger.

I don’t use WhatsApp but I am told it has 86 trackers, which I thin eOS blocks all of. But other users can confirm that…
