Switching to e/OS but which phone?

Hi guys,

I’m switching to e/OS and as my current phone has had it I am looking for a replacement which is compatible with e/OS.

I have singled out a few but can’t decide so hoping for some thoughts here.

Main thing I want is a compact phone in which the hardware will last as long as possible and works well with e/OS.

No shops here stock the phones I’m looking for so maybe someone can give me some hands on experiernces.

I am looking at the following phones:

Pixel 4a (mainly because of the 3,5mm jack)
Pixel 5 (my favorite because of ist size)
Pixel 7 or 7a (better camera)

and the Sony xperia 5 iii (headphone jack, extendable memory) and because I kind of like Sony stuff.

All thoughts and experiernces appreciated!

Cheers!

If this is about an SD card, just keep in mind that current Android doesn’t like SD cards as Internal Storage much anymore, formatting as Internal Storage may lead to serious instability and may shred your data in the whole Internal Storage at some point.

Formatting and using an SD card as external/portable storage is still fine.

Then just go for it

None of the devices you listed are bad choices.

The 5 and the 7 will have the best support amongst the devices on your list because they were/are sold in the murena-shop… See availability of official version in that list

AFAICS the Pixel 7 (plus) is the only phone that is both on the /e/ selector and mentioned on the compatibility lists of the 3 NZ carriers.

AFAIK thoose compatibilty lists are phones tested, they just don’t test the other devices.

If you are looking for long lasting hardware I would recommend a Fairphone where you can switch spare part if something breaks.
