Teracube 2e beyond AOSP 12?

Just curious if there was any info about when/if the 2e would get beyond Android 12? I noticed the new 2s comes with Android 14. I’d hate to have to buy a new phone to get onto a new android version.

I’m also wondering about this. I don’t really care about getting the latest Android version as the newest versions are rather feature thin for improvements, its just that apparently there is no longer security updates for Android 12

2e has official A14 as well as 2s.

Currently, I see only A12 is available for download for the 2e.

Do you know when the A14 download for 2e will be available?

Thanks, my apologies, I should have said e/os build U (A14), like the 2s.

Currently the 2e is still on e/os build S (A12).

Hopefully, that makes sense.

Any idea when/if that would come as an OTA update?

For units on OEM ROM, it should be offered, unless you are using Zirconia (2020x) with Android 11 or prior, due to a data loss issue when migrating encryption settings. You’ll need to flash manually on those units.

Thanks for specifying. I just checked and I’m on Zirconia, so I’ll have to flash manually. I suppose those on non-Zirconia Teracube 2e phones can just wait for the OTA update?

Yeah, Emerald should be able to do OTA without issues. Or at least, the only issues raised we have seen are Zirconia.

I just went to manually flash my device and the downloads page for both official and community don’t have any versions beyond Android 12.

I was discussing OEM ROM, so mainline Android (and security fixes to the ROM), not /e/OS.

There is not currently, to my knowledge, e on either A13 or A14 base yet.

But given OEM ROMs exist, it looks like it should be doable, and quite performant.

I was seeing roughl 10% improvement in benchmarks version-over-version testing the pre-release OEM ROMs, so it seems like a solid base.

I’m on teracube 3e - /e/OS 3.0.1-s-emerald and I’m not seeing any updates that would get me past android 12 in Settings → Updater. Does OTA update mean that I should be able to update from there or should I do something else manually instead?

/e/OS for emerald and zirconia 2e devices is currently only on A12.

OEM ROMs from TeraCube for mainline Android are on A14.

So there is currently no way for me to install any /e/OS version that would get me past A12, correct?
Where can I find info on whether /e/OS will upgrade to more recent android versions?
If the only chance I have is to go the mainline Android way, where can I find instructions on how to do so?

Correct, not at the moment.

Updated build info is posted in links from the Weekly Progress posts here on the /e/ Community, as well as a summary paragraph, which will state what devices are being worked on for what Android major version upgrade.

TeraCube has two official/supported methods, the linked Easy Flash, and the older SPFlash method (linked in the first paragraph of that post).
