Machine: Teracube2e zirconia with latest eOS (Android16)
I have a somewhat involved hardware question: microSD cards, in terms of random-access speeds, come in A1 and A2 categories, with A2 being (much) faster. However, A2 requires that the host machine’s hardware interface support the protocol that enables this speed.
My guess is that the microSD slot in the 2e and the 2s do not support A2.
Am I correct?
As I understand things, A2 “should be” backwards compatible on Android in general to deliver “old” Class 10 or A1 but not, I think, to do enhanced speed, unless specified by the manufacturer.

Thanks for the answer - A2 is indeed backward compatible with A1, but there’s no need to buy an A2 card if the host interface cannot use it. In all likelihood, this device does not have an A2 interface, but I want (would) like to make sure.
Thanks for the old post from the Teracube company’s forum. It is useful and quite interesting from a different perspective: it says that they tested the machine with a 256GB card and it was “working” (which should mean that the full capacity was recognized by the device). The reason this is interesting because the max microSD capacity for this device here at Murena is listed as 128GB, and the Teracube company’s tech support has repeatedly told me that the max is 128GB.
The extra 128GB can make a difference between moving on to a new phone or sticking with the Teracube longer, avoiding needless consumption.

p.s.: The post you cite does not answer my original question, by the way. The speeds they quote are the non-random-access speeds (much more frequently used).
