Tried to find the best section, this seemed a good one:
I finally got the opportunity to leave my stockdroid behind me for a phone of freedom. My first thoughts are mixed but positive.
To start with a negative: While I know I can Shizuku+Canta my way to a debloat, why does /e/ all but force you to use App Lounge even if you do not vibe with their wanting you to agree to Google’s terms? Legally without one using that mode I doubt the enforceability, but from a freedom sense that makes zilch. It also by design breaks that ToS and even warns about the ban possibility through its usage, making me ponder its existence at all.
Speaking of existence, why are effective bloat(a generic mail app I do not need nor does it work, music maps etc.) required go exist? I know I can use the trusty FOSS Launcher and I might, but bliss is not terrible, and the apps would still exist.
Pivoting to positives:
- Easy back cover access with tooless sim and SD access with replaceable battery, very nice.
- Services easy to set up and disable.
- Coming from GMS ANR land to peace, agreeable ToSes and relaxation is such a load off.
- The screen is quite nice even coming from a WP100 Titan.
All in all, after being burnt by scum, it is refreshing to get a real product as advertised.
