The app 1tuner (PWA); how to get it to sound decently with screen locked?

I have installed 1tuner from the App Lounge. It is a web application; PWA. It’s for listening to eg radio stations and podcasts. It works well as long as the screen is on, but as soon as the screen is turned off, locked, the sound is like staccato and impossible to enjoy. Also no controls eg to stop the player without unlock the screen. Anyone who has any suggestion how this app can be working also when the screen is locked?
