Thunderbird or K9 Mail

Hi!
Could someone please tell me why both apps are no available and updated?
There seems to be no difference between them, why are both apps available?
Is there any reason to use on above the other?
Thanks!

I think it’s a transition period in which both still co-exist. Thunderbird for Android only left the beta stage a few weeks ago. If you search for “K9” and “Thunderbird” in this forum, you will find more discussions of this.

Thanks, thats where I git my infos so far, unfortunately I couldnt reply to the thread as it was closed…

For a while in beta stage in order to import K-9 settings into the new Thunderbird, the settings had to be saved by the latest corresponding K-9 version, so both were updated step by step in parallel.

(At least that’s the impression I got out of the forums a while ago when I installed a phone from scratch and installed Thunderbird on it.)

It’s still the case that both apps are being updated, and from the same source code.

If you’re not already using K-9, then install Thunderbird: if you install TB now you won’t have to transfer if /when they eventually drop support for K-9. I currently have both installed (in case I can help the project) with debugging any issues, but I TB is the one I use everyday

Same with me. Until recently I used K-9. Some weeks ago I installed TB and imported all account settings from K9. Yesterday I’ve disabled the accounts on K9 and I’m using only TB from now on.
