Unable to access notes in /e/ notes app

I’m not sure where to report this, and since the crash report didn’t seem to mention a contact adress, I’m hoping somebody on this forum can help me out.

I often use the /e/ notes app ( app identifier notes.e.foundation ) for keeping track of some things on my phone. Today, when opening the app, I’m greeted with the crash report below. The app has become unresponsive and only shows a dialog containing the crash report.

Is there anyone that can point me in a direction that would allow for retrieving the contents of my notes? If not via the notes app, then maybe directly from where they are stored?

Other reports on the forum of problems with Notes can be found with the hashtag #app-notes.

It seems to me that different fixes are appropriate depending on whether one is using e-1.9 or e-1.10.

The e-1.9 issue seemed to start with this thread Notes have been deleted / Notizen wurden gelöscht.

The notes app is still in maintenance mode and I’m just wondering when maintenance mode will be completed for next cloud notes app.

Each week the Development Updates post has an update on progress. If you have updated to e-2.9 you can get Notes working by following the method here https://community.e.foundation/t/week-20-2025-development-and-testing.

There is further advice about third party apps.

The notes app is still in maintenance mode, and I’m just wondering when maintenance mode will be completed for the next cloud notes app. If I can’t get notes to work in the next days I would like to know how to get a refund for the cloud service I never got a chance to use because I purchased it and then got told that it doesn’t work because it’s in maintenance mode. I need to use the notes app it’s the primary reason I made the purchase. I don’t want to use the e/os version just putting that out there.

For me syncing of notes started to fail with 3.1.1 on my FP3 even when it worked after 2.9.
Do you have the same problem?

Two days ago I removed and added my murena account.
It synced all notes but stopped working in the night.
Same with the nextcloud notes app.

In the same moment I reauthenticated my gmail-account with Oauth.
(I didnt’t changed it since the Oaut-Problem of K-9)
At first E-Mail took minutes to receive any mails and it also finally stopped working in the night.

The same gmail account is logged in twice via an app password.
That doesn’t have any problems and still works.

I’m afraid I’m not sure about the versions. I was using my own home server for some years, rather than Murena Cloud. That failed a few months back and I do not have the time to look at restoring it at the moment, so I switched to the /e/os service because I was already running a Murena phone.

I noticed, when I connected, that notes didn’t work, but ignored it as it wasn’t a priority. However, I have missed the notes app and decided to sort it out yesterday. With @aibd 's help, I have found the solution in the release notes.

I don:'t use gmail, so have no insight to that, I’m afraid. With the duplicate displays, I suggest you look at the accounts in your phone’s settings. It is easy to re-enter your account and end up with two. Also, do you have Davx5 installed? That is what accounts is based on and it can duplicate your accounts if you’ve entered your email in that. You can clear your Murena account from that, so long as it is present in your Murena accounts app in your phone’s settings.

You seem to misunderstood me.
I am not asking for a solution from you or help withe duplicate mail account.
I wanted to know if we both have the same problems with syncing.
So I described everything to sort out differences and find similarities.
There is also no problem with a duplicate account.
I just wanted to describe the problems with synchronisation in more detail.
