note: that if your device was made directly with HyperOS from the factory, … not possible.
I think this is the case with my Redmi.
My impression: The manufacturer doesn’t want us to use different software and is therefore making a lot of effort to prevent this. The bootloader unlocking via the community is a scam.
I’ll probably get a different phone and throw this Chinese monstrosity in the trash.
Xiaomi definitely doesn’t want us to unlock the bootloader. But if it gives you any hope, I was on HyperOS 1.x (upgraded from MIUI, didn’t know back then) and achieved the unlocking just two weeks ago
Unfortunately, I’m too cautious to do anything I don’t understand. I don’t understand why I have to install Python and why I have to run a script whose consequences I can’t predict.
Just because anyone on the internet says I should do it that way. In the age of AI, I’m doubly cautious if I can’t verify for myself whether what’s being said can actually work.
It’s a safe mindset, I did read the script before running it for myself too.
And I’m actually seeing now that the author did point out in the Readme file that his script won’t work if the device was shipped with HyperOS. I guess changing phone will be your best option then…
