Unfortunately I didn’t get on well with the links (I was able to download the 1.2 GB image, of course).
I still remember from my Nokia that I have to load a bootloader with adb/fastboot and then install the image via sideload.
I didn’t understand the description in the XDA thread about “horizondroid”.
Would you please give me a “nudge” in the right direction?
I’m hoping that the eOS will use significantly less power: I want the good thing to be clamped onto my motorcycle handlebars and be my guide (sat nav ;-))
Hey @ronnz98
Update:
I’m still serving my 30-day mandatory break. In 14 days I’ll be allowed to open the bootloader - hopefully…
I’m very excited to see if the Redmi Note 12 will work!
can someone send me a step by step tutorial on how to do this? i’ve never messed with phones before…
and how to make a backup of the original os and restore it in case.
meanwhile 30-day-countdown done!
I tried two times to get the bootloader unlocked, both times I got the answer that contingent ist reached - I should try it next day…
Unfortunately, I am unable to get the bootloader unlocked. Everytime when I request it (xiaomi community), I am told that the quota has been reached and I shall try it next day 0 o’clock.
I would be very happy to know an alternative to unlock the bootloader.
Thank you for your hard work on the Redmi Note 12 4G (topaz) builds for /e/OS! Your contributions are highly appreciated by the community.
I have a few questions and requests:
Any chance of becoming official?
Are there any plans or possibilities for this ROM to become an official build in the future? It would be great to see this ROM gain official support, which could attract more users and testers.
Compatibility with Redmi Note 12 4G (tapas)
Since this build is for the Redmi Note 12 4G (topaz), can you confirm if it will also work on the Redmi Note 12 4G (tapas)?
Request for an XDA Forum post
If possible, could you create a dedicated post on the XDA forums for the Redmi Note 12 4G? This would help more users know about the ROM, understand how to install it, and try it out. A proper XDA thread could also make it easier for users to report feedback and support your work.
Thank you again for all your hard work and dedication!
No, this device is really challenging to build and I don’t even know if it really works since I don’t own the device. Any feedback is appreciated. For popular devices which are confirmed working I can do more or less regular builds
I’d like to test it on my Redmi Note 12 4G (tapas). Could you please share the exact flashing steps? Specifically, I’m planning to use OrangeFox Recovery for the installation.
Do I need to format the data partition before flashing?
Should I flash any specific firmware or prerequisites beforehand?
Are there any special instructions?
I’ll make sure to provide feedback after testing. Looking forward to your guidance!
I tried to install this on Tapas by following these steps:
Booted into Custom Recovery.
Performed a wipe of Internal Storage, Cache, Dalvik, Metadata, etc.
Flashed the Tapas 1.0.4.0 firmware.
Flashed e-2.5-u-20241124-UNOFFICIAL-topaz.zip.
However, it is stuck on the Mi boot logo.
The first one does what was needed before the Mi Community step was a thing. It’ll guide you into installing older unpatched version of the Xiaomi Settings app for it to work, you can install it using adb.
The second script does the unlocking part, but you will still have to wait (7 days in my case).
Each script guides you very well in each step of their process.
I succeeded unlocking the bootloader for the same model (Redmi Note 12 4G - topaz), however it was for installing another ROM project. But as I’m discovering /e/OS now, I could want to give it a try too!
