[UNOFFICIAL BUILD] Samsung Galaxy A5 (a5y17lte) and A7 (a7y17lte) 2017 for /e/OS-T

Samsung Galaxy A5 (a5y17lte) and A7 (a7y17lte) 2017 for /e/OS-T 2.7

That was no fun building too. As ever…no guarantee that it does work.

…testing your ROM always comes with a risk. But - No Risk, No Fun!

Well, unfortunately, I’m not (yet) happy either, because according to the SHRP recovery, the installation was flawless, but the system only boots up to the stock Galaxy A5 logo and lights up in white on a black background. Nothing changes for minutes. No bootloop. Nothing.

Note:

NOTE: Going back to the previously working iodéOS 2.29 no longer works. Same error as with /e/OS: The system only boots up to the stock Galaxy A5 logo and lights up in white on a black background. However, after one minute the system automatically boots into the SHRP recovery. Reinstallation of stock Android is now unavoidable.

Did you follow install instructions?

How to install

Make sure you had Samsung's Oreo firmware bootloader and modem before installing this.
Make sure you are using the latest official TWRP version.
Download the lineage build and optionally google apps.
In TWRP format data (if you still have stock rom encryption).
In TWRP wipe data and cache.
Flash LineageOS.
Optional: Flash Google apps (rightafter).
Reboot.

Can someone check with TWRP please

SHRP Recovery is a fork of TWRP and is newer than TWRP. I prefer to use SHRP, PBRP and OrangeFox Recoveries than official TWRP and have had the best experiences with them.

I understand that. However is some cases you need specific TWRP versions to get a device running

I don’t understand why the functioning of your /e/OS ROM should depend on TWRP recovery when the other two ROMs work with SHRP recovery. LOS21.0 and iodeOS 2.29 also work when installed with TWRP.

It makes no difference whether e-2.7-t-20250120-UNOFFICIAL-a5y17lte by @ronnz98 is installed with SHRP_v3.1_stable-Official_a5y17lte_20230205 or TWRP-3.7.0_9-0-a5y17lte_20221015. In both cases, the recoveries report the successful installation, but the /e/OS does not start.

Just to confirm, noboot either on /e recovery or TWRP

Both instal the image just fine, but device remains at this screen:

TWRP 3.3.1-x is the best for older devices, (for exemple s4 → s7),
Have a test…

I tried installing using TWRP 3.7 and ended up not booting blocked at the white Samsung galaxy A5 screen: Although I managd to install the Lineage OS 21 version on this phone
