[UNOFFICIAL BUILD] Samsung Galaxy A5 [SM-A500XX] for e/OS/ R

Samsung Galaxy A5(2015) SM-A500F/FU/G/H/M

You have to be on the latest firmware to install e/os/. It’s a port from J5 2016 because that’s the only device with SD410 that I could find with Lineage 18 (Android 11 or R).

It works fine for me, if someone wants I can also build Q version.

Please provide feedback if you try it out.

Hi sethdot, thanks so much for your work on porting this one, I installed it but sim card and camera, are the only things that are not working, I have seen that on sda on the topic regarding the Unofficial lineageos 18 for j5 2016 with the permissive versions everything is working and not with the enforcing ones.

Is there a way you could compile/port a permissive SELinux one?

Thank you

Hello @pesciol, Wecome to this forum and thank you for your feedback.

Did you perform a “clean” install ?
Formating /data is sometimes mandatory when changing custom branch…android version…

Hi Piero, yes I did! do you have your own experience feedback with this rom on that device? I have SM-A500FU I see that info on this build are j5xnlte which I guess comes from j5nlte lineageos, but I don t know if the one above is a permissive or enforcing one, camera app cannot open it says it might be used by another process, and SIM card functionalities are off, or not recognized at all.

I don’t have experience with that “rare” device.
SM-A500FU have device codename (a5ulte) productname could be (a5ultexx)

not that rare, anyway the guy above here has succesfully ported this https://xdaforums.com/t/rom-11-x-unofficial-gapps-ota-lineageos-18-1-for-galaxy-j5-2015-j5nlte-j5lte-j5ltechn-j53gxx-2022-08-13.4326931/page-14
into e/os some sort of patch via repacking libraries compatible with sd410 and the appearance of e/os. I m not sure myself how to achieve that, would love to talk to the developer.

Hello guys, I’m no longer active in e/os/ as I still didn’t find solution for banking app problem in the version 2.5. and up (it recognises custom rom and won’t work). I wrote about it before.

I spent weeks trying to figure it out before I gave up.

As for this device, I asked a person to whom I gave it and everything works fine for him. But his version is Q which I never uploaded because there was no interest shown.

But now good news - here is a link to a new TWRP that allows you to flash system files in this device:

There are so many sd410 devices and many have official murena versions. I tried a lot of them and all worked for Q version ported to A500XX.

I usually like to flash Lineage for specific device, test that everything works fine and then flash e/os/ only as system image. I’m almost sure that I did that here also.

Hi! thanks for taking the time to answer! Sorry if I m not that savvy, but so what this twrp allows me to do? I can for example flash a lineageos 18 that was meant for j5nlte and overwrite a .img system file of E/os on it?
Myself I don t want to necessarily stick to or install E/OS but was intrigued by this version that is Android 11 to this specific model. Is there a way I can flash android 11 Lineageos18 with this twrp?

Thanks again

Also I find all the E/os official downloads pages down, I can t find any of the 2.3 or above images for a sd410 device, if you have any trails…

thanks Piero! I would love to find those official murena “Q version ported to A500XX” though, finger crossed

All right @pesciol , you piqued my interest so I went searching through my old files and you’re in luck.

I ported Lineage 18.1 for this device and I know why you had problems - there are versions for Single and Dual SIM.

I found one of this oldies in the storage and tested it - I can confirm that camera and SIM work if you use the correct version for your phone.

So here it is:

Single SIM

Dual SIM

Please try it out and provide feedback if it’s fine for you, too.

Yep, as @piero correctly pointed, I learned almost everything from @ronnz98 guides and builds, he has several written tutorials on how to build roms and he’s such a legend of the unofficial builds.

Hi Piero and Sethdot, Sethdot, I really appreciate your effort and talent at this point, since you developed this ROM that you shared can you provide the source code? for safety and intellectual honesty?

Sources are in the initial post of the topic that piero linked, ronnz98 always provides it.
