Don’t forget to backup and share your experience, thanks
Hi there
What’s the difference between your build and the build lineage-14.1-20191013-UNOFFICIAL-d2tmo
If someone should test your build, it would be nice to get some details regarding the updates to earlier T999 custom roms…
E.g. based on lineage os, cm…
Thanks and best regards

Hi @veloc_h,
Welcome to this forum.

Hi piero
Thanks for the warm welcome!
I’ve just read through https://doc.e.foundation/what-s-e
Great stuff, you are doing!
Apart from de-googling … I would nevertheless like to know, what’s the code difference compared to thed2tmo build from 2019-10-13.
I have refered to the e custom rom here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/info-faq-galaxy-s3-w-lte-sgh-t999l-sgh-t999n.2370981/post-85581573
14.1-20191013-UNOFFICIAL-d2tmo
and
e-0.7-n-20191014-UNOFFICIAL-d2tmo
date are quite the same
e-0.9-n-20200715-UNOFFICIAL-d2tmo
has an updated android security patch
All are using the same LOS sources, ( except /e/OS particularities )
But one have to check if device tree are the same…
Here is the manifest used for building e-0.9-n-20200715-UNOFFICIAL-d2tmo
e-0.18 may have to be build within “minimal default app list” due to /system size (without G.P.S.app)
now I have installed (fresh install!) e-0.9; one minor bug: even if I select MTP for USB connection, the internal storage would not be visible in Windows explorer (like in the Original d2tmo from October a switch from mtp to ptp solves the problem temporarily (the problem does not exist in lineage-14.1-20190507-UNOFFICIAL-d2tmo).
However - which is much more important to me - gps does not work at all allthough I have replaced the original (north-american) gps.conf by the proper gps.conf for Switzerland (I hope, it’s the proper…).

G.P.S. “Magic Earth” have to be updated within “Aurora Store” (from “F-Droid”) as it is the only non open-source app (but privacy-respectful) of the distribution.
There are four possible Aurora apps I could install
Strange to see such refererences to gogol servers on a /e/phone
it’s a left over from lineage os mit gapps. Which replacement should I set?
Here the google server is set (?):
https://gist.github.com/Ivan-Shestakov/0f55043956df55938dd152076f2d4004
Actually, it’s a AGPS Server, the present location is sent too. So it shouldn’t interfere, I think. I haven’t found an profound explanation of the gps.conf but in German:www.pocketpc.ch/htc-hd2-android/131559-gps-conf-kurz-erklaert.html
Another explanation in English:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/trick-speed-up-satelite-fix-for-gps-on-android.1239713/#post-17081413
it seems that Android 6 is the last version, who takes gps.conf into account…
In case anyone was or is wondering how to fix the GPS on their S3, simply remove the back cover and tighten the 4 screws holding the phone together with a Phillips screwdriver. It’s worked for many people and it worked for me, here’s a link to XDA forums of people discussing it https://xdaforums.com/t/simple-fix-for-your-gps-samsung-galaxy-s-iii.2201668/. Also I was wondering if there is a more recent version of the /e/OS d2tmo for this device, since i noticed that the CIBC banking app crashes whenever I open it and Google Maps app also crashes whenever I select directions to get directions to a destination
Hi, do you know if there has been an update, perhaps unofficial, to this particular ROM? I’ve tried it and I noticed a couple bugs, one is that the CIBC banking app crashes as soon as it’s opened and also Google Maps app crashes when select the Directions option, reagrdless of whether I download from the /e/ App Store or Aurora Store
Update for 0.21n
@Ji.Is.Ma says :
I tried that ROM and it soft-bricked my phone
because it is designed for the Galaxy s3 T-mobile 3g (UMTS) model [SGH-T999] (d2tmo),
not for your Galaxy s3 T-mobile 4g (LTE) model [SGH-T999L] (d2ltetmo) :
