I have noticed there is a bug somewhere with sending SMS messages. Receiving SMS works but sending results in the message showing as “Sending…” for a minute or so and then errors out. I also tried Fossify Messages from F-Droid and it errors out too saying it’s a network error.
Prior to installing this build the phone was updated to latest Samsung firmware (IIRC OneUI 5.1 and Android 13) via the built-in updater, then OEM unlocked.
Alright, so SMS sending just randomly started working. I have no idea how and the only thing I can think of is that I rebooted the phone a few times, while trying to find a way to reproduce another issue where the navigation bar visually shifts to the right sometimes after rotating the screen in Findroid.
That second issue os proving hard to reproduce predictably but it’s definitely related to screen rotation, however it doesn’t seem to happen in Grayjay or at least not often enough for me to have seen it yet.
Never mind, the bug has a chance of triggering with anything that plays fullscreen video. Findroid just seems to be particularly good at triggering it. Reversing the buttons in the settings restores them but it’s an annoying workaround.
This might not be specific to the S20 FE but unfortunately I don’t have any other device capable of running Android 15.
