[UNOFFICIAL BUILD] Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) gtowifi for /e/OS T

So I was now able to build for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) gtowifi (which is officially supported since LineageOS 20)
First /e/OS T-1.15 build that was successful. However yet untested since I do not own the device.

Will this rom work with the T295 model or just the T290?

Both have identical boxes with the title “Tab A 8.0 (2019)”.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t think there is a custom ROM for the T295 model.
If you have a T290 please install official version:

https://doc.e.foundation/devices/gtowifi

Does that mean that it will NOT work on the T295?

Hi @Kingston, welcome to this forum and community.

Retail Branding Marketing Name Device Model
Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0", 2019) gtowifi SM-T290

Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0", 2019) gto SM-T295
Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0", 2019) gto SM-T295C
Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0", 2019) gto SM-T295N
Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0", 2019) gto SM-T297

.

Your device codename is (gto) LTE model, not (gtowifi), so you have two options :

If your SamsungOS is based on Android 10 or earlier, you should install /e/OS-GSI version.

If your SamsungOS is based on a later version than Android 10, you can try to tweak the META-INFO included in the (gtowifi) official .ZIP for adding (gto) to the target list, and “pray” that do the trick. If it works, you won’t be abble to use data connexion, only WiFi…

Please report result !

Thanks for the clarification.

The tablet came with android 11…

I have never edited a rom before, only flashed those of which have already been confirmed to work so I don’t know how to edit the file you’re suggesting. I purchased a T290 but was sent a T295 instead so I was hoping I could maybe salvage it and still utilize it with e os. I will just return it since it’s not going to fulfill my needs. Unfortunately options are extremely limited for tablets that have e os builds and can still be purchased new.

I’m disgusted and revolted by the idea of paying to support the forced displacement of populations through murder and rape associated with the expropriation of land to install mines, followed by human trafficking, including children in and around the mines, prostitution and armed militias.
Also disgusted and revolted by the toxic waste associated with the extraction and processing of the products needed to manufacture electronic devices.

I NEVER buy new devices !

Holy hyperbole…

It depends on the use case. This isn’t a device soley for tinkering and hobbyist use. It’s purpose is to be used professionally for business travel. The problem with used portable devices is that you have no way of determining the history of the battery and it’s current state/performance level. New was the best choice especially under time constraints but you do you enviro warrior.
