So I was now able to build for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) gtowifi (which is officially supported since LineageOS 20)
First /e/OS T-1.15 build that was successful. However yet untested since I do not own the device.

Your device codename is (gto) LTE model, not (gtowifi), so you have two options :
If your SamsungOS is based on Android 10 or earlier, you should install /e/OS-GSI version.
If your SamsungOS is based on a later version than Android 10, you can try to tweak the META-INFO included in the (gtowifi) official .ZIP for adding (gto) to the target list, and “pray” that do the trick. If it works, you won’t be abble to use data connexion, only WiFi…
I have never edited a rom before, only flashed those of which have already been confirmed to work so I don’t know how to edit the file you’re suggesting. I purchased a T290 but was sent a T295 instead so I was hoping I could maybe salvage it and still utilize it with e os. I will just return it since it’s not going to fulfill my needs. Unfortunately options are extremely limited for tablets that have e os builds and can still be purchased new.
I’m disgusted and revolted by the idea of paying to support the forced displacement of populations through murder and rape associated with the expropriation of land to install mines, followed by human trafficking, including children in and around the mines, prostitution and armed militias.
Also disgusted and revolted by the toxic waste associated with the extraction and processing of the products needed to manufacture electronic devices.
It depends on the use case. This isn’t a device soley for tinkering and hobbyist use. It’s purpose is to be used professionally for business travel. The problem with used portable devices is that you have no way of determining the history of the battery and it’s current state/performance level. New was the best choice especially under time constraints but you do you enviro warrior.
