Not yet. I’m in the tedious process of trying to understand how to flash custom ROMs on this device. This is not my first flashing but as the years progress the process gets harder and harder and more tedious.
I’m at the step of flashing TWRP (and VBMeta and multidisabler), but I’m not quite sure about the “Patch the recovery img so it has root in it”… Any tips or documentation would be welcome.
Ended up succeeding in flashing the ROM. It seems to mostly work, except :
no wifi, turning it on instantly reverts to off, here are the logs (obtained using adb logcat | grep "E Wifi" to filter out the errors). Trying it out with no SIM for now, could it be related ?
there’s a weird flickering circle just under the front facing camera on the lock screen when turning the device on
I tried this one (64-bit version) and it works perfectly (in previous versions WiFi was not working) but strangely, it seems like rom comes without keyboard app.
I sideloaded keyboard apk and it’s not a big deal but just a sidenote for others.
I’ve been using this rom for two days now, it’s very stable and battery life is great. Also I like the UI, it’s different than usual on e/os/. Thanks again.
Testing the ROM, seems to be working so far. The side loading of the keyboard is a bit frustrating, in case others are testing that means you have to download an APK (eg from https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.menny.android.anysoftkeyboard/ ) and use adb to install it :
Also I can’t configure the wallpaper for the Bliss launcher, is that a bug or that feature does not exist for that launcher ? When I search in settings I find “background” but can’t click the setting.
With this as my daily driver I am having trouble with a french SIM, phone calls work but SMS works intermittently, data access (LTE or 3G) doesn’t work so far. Could that be related to /e/OS ? Do you have any idea on how to debug this ? I don’t think it’s a hardware problem but I can’t be sure since I installed this ROM without testing the “stock ROM”.
I don’t see that you mentioned what exactly is your model as Great ronnz98 built it immediately for several Samsung A types.
If you are on A10, it’s a litlle tricky because it came in both 32 and 64-bit version. If yours is 32-bit, sometimes you can just switch to 64-bit and everything will work fine. But other times, it will be unstable and have bugs. That’s why there are two roms for A10.
Other than that, you can check Eureka’s team version of e/os/ for the same models. I used them before everything was fixed on 2.0 version here, and they were working well. I didn’t notice any bugs. Here is the link:
My device is a Samsung Galaxy A40. I found a fix for the SMS & data access with my operator (manual configuration needed, don’t really know why. Happy to stick to this ROM.
Btw I also didn’t find a way to change a wallpaper on new bliss launcher even though there is “Wallpaper” section when you search for it in setttings but it doesn’t work.
All right, so firmware version matters. I had two A30s, one on A10 and other on A11.
If you are on older firmware, update/flash newer or you can combine files from 1.19. with 2.0 - just transfer boot, eureka_dtb, eureka_dtbo and recovery from 1.19 zip to 2.0 version and it will boot. There is no keyboard in this 2.0. version also.
TL;DR - you have to be on latest firmware A11 for 2.0 version of e/os/ to boot. Version 1.19 will boot on Android 10 but wifi doesn’t work.
A20e model runs very well on e/os/ 2.0.t. So far so good, already two months without any problems. It’s better than eureka team’s version although theirs is also fine.
I received a request to write a short tutorial on how to install @ronnz98 version of e/os/ on Samsung a20e. It’s going to be for that phone but the procedure is the same for all the other models on this topic.
Update your phone OS to the latest version available.
Turn on developer options by tapping on “Build number” in settings - about phone or settings - software information
In developer options turn on “OEM unlocking”
Turn off the phone. Hold volume up and down simultaneously while connecting phone to USB-C cable (which is connected to your computer)
Read the text and long hold volume up to unlock bootloader. That will erase your phone so backup stuff before.
After factory reset, you have to connect to the internet and turn on developer options once again. Wait a while until you see that “OEM unlocking” option appears and it’s greyed out (“Bootloader is alredy unlocked”)
Turn off the phone and connect to computer while holding power up and down. This time short press volume up to enter download mode
