Well by now I got eOS 2.5 (from above) up and running. However it is not yet in a usable state.

I’m willing to test, report bugs and even donate a small sum from time to time as I did this morning for the development. But I’m unable to contribute with any kind of dev stuff.

So if there is someone to get this ROM into a usable state, let me know, I will list the issues and test updates.

Update for /e/OS-a14 2.9 (former /e/OS-U)

e-2.9-a14-20250329-UNOFFICIAL-x1q.zip

e-2.9-a14-20250329-UNOFFICIAL-y2q.zip

e-2.9-a14-20250329-UNOFFICIAL-z3q.zip

At least I could use now latest sm8250 kernel…maybe some progress?

Great, thank you very much!

I will be flashing later in the day.
Is this the right place to report bugs, or do you want me to report somwhere else?

edit: not going to happen today, have to wait for the battery to die…
the last issue I encountered yesterday with eOS 2.5 was that when enabling “night mode” it would take it quite literally and simpliy black out the screen completely…
The phone is clearly still on (long press power and the flasilight goes on) but I can not see a thing and therefore can’t reboot.
So give it a few days for the battery to die… It was below 50% so I guess it won’t take too long.

Bug Report e-2.9-a14-20250329-UNOFFICIAL-y2q.zip

Hi,

I successfully flashed e-2.9-a14-20250329-UNOFFICIAL-y2q.zip which you provided above to my device.

Device Name: Galaxy S20+ 5G
Model: SM-G986N
Device Code: y2q

It’s slightly better than the previous build, but still not usable.

Here are the bugs I came across:

  1. Not really a bug and somewhat expected given its unofficial nature, but when flashing from recovery, signature fails.
  2. Setup Wizard (Apparently related to Settings; see below) fails to set up a screen lock. When attempting to set up a PIN, I get up to the Confirm your PIN screen, but nothing happens when pressing “confirm”. I can go Back (“<”), but only back to the first input screen for the PIN, and then I have to reboot the phone and skip the Lock-Screen security to reach the launcher.
  3. Settings app: Setting up a Screen Lock Pin, pattern, or anything else also fails and turns the Settings app unresponsive. Even after force-quitting the App, it misbehaves and again becomes unresponsive e.g. when attempting to enable Developer settings. I had to reboot once more to enable the Developer settings workable or change any other settings. There are numerous other things that don’t work in the Settings app; I won’t list them all here, but please let me know if I should and if there’s something specific you’d like me to clarify.
  4. PullDown Menu: Initially only the first swipe is accessible. After installing some apps and getting notifications, I was able to pull down twice, only then I have the option to edit and access settings, brightness, etc.
  5. App Lounge: gets into a never-ending “Account unavailable” > “Refresh Session” loop. If selecting “Ignore”, it only lets me install Open-Source apps; others show up but won’t start downloading and after a while, would simply time out.
  6. Camera App: It seems to work but I can only take 12.19MP pictures. This is the same camera quality as on my eOS Galaxy S9+. Both actually have better Camera than 12MP. Also it seems the camera app is using only one camera, rather than the available 4.If possible it would be nice to improve that, seems a pity to have such a good cam but not being able to use it.
  7. Gestures > Navigation Mode: When Gesture navigation is enabled, the swipe-to-go back doesn’t work. Instead, I have a “<” at the bottom left corner. Moreover, when switching to the 3-button setup for navigation, only the back button actually functions; the others are dead keys. The 2-button setup seems to be the only one that works.
  8. Recent Apps: When Swiping up (in Gesture navigation or the 2-button mode), most of the times it says “No recent items” even though I’ve just opened a few apps. (I recall encountering this error on my S9+ when using the BlissLauncher; however, as a KISS Launcher user, it never bothered me).

If needed, I can provide more details or logs to help identify and fix these issues.

Thank you for your time, and I hope eOS becomes a viable option for daily use in the future.

are you a kernel dev? can u help me with a kernel? thanks in advance

No I’m not sorry. My dev skills are limited
