Ok, will see… thanks.
Question for you, is the app store functional in your build? I was thinking their server is having errors but I also can’t put it past the development team to have bound the creation of an anonymous account to some arbitrary value defined by the system apks
It is functional but it gives first a message that Account unavailable for the anonymous with two options: ignore and refresh session. Press ignore and the window fills with icons. I do not know how useful it is but in the past I downloaded and installed some sample games.
I think it has to do with permission… Is the compilation signed? Also check the browser…
I’m going to try your new build 2.7-t-UNOFFICIAL-gsi_arm64_20250111 by @Colors
Lenovo Smart Tab M10 HD TB-X306F
SoC: Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22T
Stock Android 11 (A11) Kernel: 4.19.127
No custom recovery
working ~ e-2.7-t-UNOFFICIAL-gsi_arm64_20250111 by @Colors
Successful repair of the WiFi/Internet/Network problem with:
adb shell settings put global restricted_networking_mode 0
There is no search
bar at the top of the settings
App Lounge v2.12.2 foundation.e.apps finds the app you are looking for, offers to install it, but does not install with the message CANCEL
But is it functional for 2.7? That’s the question. I tried on sm-t585 (gtaxllte) and has the same symptoms although in older versions it works… or now maybe not.
On my devices, installing apps with the eAppLounge in anonymous mode does not work. I have tried everything possible.
For example, when I tap on an app icon that is offered in the app overview (Top Free App), the screen goes black and the error message ‘Unknown Error!’ appears at the bottom.
That IS a surprise! Where will we find out where the problem comes from?
I assume that the malfunction of the eAppLounge has nothing to do with your GSI, but is a general problem. The eAppLounge does not work on other of my devices either (CustomROM). We have FOSS Store alternatives and can wait until /e/ has solved the problem.
Thank you X, you’ve done a lot of work these days. I was thinking of a mini version that would shorten the installation times. I don’t know how highly integrated the system is, nor the dependencies. I only have a vague idea.
However, our GSI no matter how functional it is will not be able to rival Lineage. This requires a proper structure that eOS does not have even if it is based on Lineage. So my guess is that a “very generic” GSI will do its job. With A14 and A15 things will be maybe better.
I worked many years to build linux distros, “custom” if you want to say so, but android is another beast.
Thank you @Colors, my aim is to free as many devices as possible from Google Mobile Services. Your T-GSI is a very valuable tool for this in my eyes. If the elementary functions such as 5G/4G LTE, WLAN/Wi-Fi, headphones can be used, but one or the other function cannot, then this is only a marginal handicap in my eyes. And if there was a T update (A13) up to every three months, my /e/OS-GSI world would be a beautiful one, as it was in the days of the official /e/OS-Q GSI (A10).
what about /e/ on x86 ?
amd64…
It can be made and installed… manually. It needs an installer to detect the devices (PC, Laptops) and that in itself is a huge amount of programming. In the Linux World there are few distros that have the capacity to move things on. The rest are “derivative”. But even here the Market is full. So, how to do eOS on x86… Compiling manually the kernel, modules, drivers, secure booting and many other things. But how to put all together in a cursive mode is a challenge. Microsoft and Google have billions but they stick with what they have.
Ironically, I used Mandrake in his days and I liked it… but the competition is even tougher than in the Android world so…
i ask because some custom android.x86 exists, and some sources are present on the /e/ Gitlab…
I know but it needs money and programmers, a lot…
@colors I am going through /e/OS 13 right now to find values that your firmware may need for the search bar, but sadly I could only find a 2.6 firmware for it so if the search bar’s value changed in 2.7 it won’t be very informative; I’ll post back with findings
So the /e/OS development team has again changed the way recent apps works as a result of the GSIs being made LOL
So I have determined how to enable them again; but this is very unfriendly to the open source community
