Update check fails repeatedly on Teracube 2e

I’ve had no trouble updating e/OS on my Teracube 2e (emerald) in the past. My phone is currently on e/OS 2.7-s. Unfortunately, every time I try to check for the update to e/OS 2.8-s, the update check fails. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Checking for updates daily for over a week via both wifi and mobile data
  • Turning off all Advanced Privacy settings before checking for update
  • Clearing the Updater’s storage and cache
  • Verifying that the Teracube 2e (emerald) is still on the list of supported devices

I saw that there was a service outage in October 2024 but if I understood correctly the outage has been resolved.

I found the document, “Steps to Update Teracube 2e Using ADB”. But this appears to be an old document as evidenced by the link to e/OS 1.5 on the page:
https://doc.e.foundation/support-topics/teracube-2e-update.html

My questions:

  1. Is my Teracube 2e (emerald) still a supported device for e/OS?
  2. Is there a way for me to get the Updater to work properly without having to update manually?
  3. If the answer to #2 is “no”, are the instructions at the link above up to date for my device (with the exception that I’d have to download e/OS 2.8 instead of e/OS 1.5)?

Thank you.

I don’T know what build type you have but it is still supported. Some users suggest to update via sdb sideload or in the updater with the ‘local update’ if you have that option.

Thank you, mihi. I tried downloading the update in your link on my phone but it couldn’t access the website. At this point I dug deeper into my phone settings and learned that on the Network and Internet page there is a VPN setting which was set to Advanced Privacy. I set VPN to None and then I was able to download the update normally via the Updater.

Previously I had turned off all the settings in Advanced Privacy but I was unaware that there was this VPN setting that needed to be changed.

At this point the update has downloaded and is installing so all seems to be well.

I don’t use the VPN of Advanced Privacy, but happy it worked for you.
