Update Fairemail?

I used Fairemail for years in the free version.

Since my employer changed to Office365 I need a mail app being able to work with Office365 mail servers (OAuth …). I installed now the FairEmail-v1.xxxx-github-release.apk in a sideload directly from the GitHub repo and paid for it. Works great.

Now I get an update from F-Droid. Can I install this? Will the updated package be able to access Office365 servers? Who knows this?

“The F-Droid build does not support OAuth, see this FAQ about why not”

“OAuth access is available only for Play Store and Github releases because email providers permitted the use of OAuth for these releases only. The responsible for a release, for the F-Droid build this is the F-Droid organization, needs to ask for OAuth permissions, which mostly involves signing a contract with binding terms and conditions, often with the clause that the use of OAuth is exclusive.”

“The GitHub version will automatically check for updates and notify you when there is an update available. Since apps can’t update themselves, updates can’t be automatically installed. However, you can easily install an update via a button in the update available notification. You could use the IzzyOnDroid F-Droid Repository to manage GitHub updates.”

That’s what I thought.

Yes, I read this, but it didn’t say anything until now. F-Droid did. OK, probably I’ve just to wait a bit longer.

you can doublecheck in fairemail-settings for “check gitlab for updates” being checked

Yes, I had a checkmark for weekly checks instead of daily ckecks.
